The Department of Environmental Supervision Identified 374 Violations Within Two Weeks of the Opening of the Hunting Season
The Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified 374 violations across the country within two weeks of the opening of the hunting season for migratory birds.
Of the violations identified, 50 involved hunting with prohibited weapons, methods, or means. In 32 cases, hunters had not paid the applicable fee for the removal of migratory birds from the environment. In 13 cases, offenders were hunting in a prohibited area - within city limits. In one case, hunting of a prohibited bird species was recorded.
Within two weeks of the opening of the hunting season, Department officers seized 298 prohibited hunting devices across the country, including electronic bird callers.
Throughout the migratory bird hunting season, the Department of Environmental Supervision is further intensifying monitoring across the country. As part of its efforts to combat poaching, the Department actively uses various tools and technologies, including high-mobility vehicles, so-called buggies, drones, camera traps, and thermal binoculars. As a result of strengthening the Department’s capacities and introducing modern technologies into practice, state environmental control has become more effective.
The Department of Environmental Supervision calls on citizens to comply with hunting regulations and, in case of any violation, to call the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture’s hotline at 153 (no area code required; calls are free of charge and anonymity is guaranteed), so that the relevant regional division of the Department can respond promptly.
