Hunting is prohibited in state nature reserves, national parks, and within a 500-meter buffer zone around them, as well as within the administrative boundaries of cities in Georgia.
The following are prohibited: burning vegetation; collecting and selling wild bird eggs; destroying or damaging nests, burrows, and habitats of animals; and the use of mass hunting methods, including any type of homemade or factory-made nets, traps, snares, as well as pits and similar devices; attracting birds using electronic sound-emitting devices (including those powered by autonomous energy sources); the use of poison; reflectors mounted on hunting weapons; and explosives; as well as ambushing with shotguns and other self-firing weapons. Hunting and/or capturing animals from aircraft, helicopters, cars, motorcycles, boats, motorboats, and other motorized vehicles is prohibited, including the use of headlights or searchlights at night; pursuing animals with vehicles; hunting aquatic birds from motorboats and motorboats with running engines (pursuit hunting); and night hunting using fire. It is also prohibited to capture weakened animals during natural disasters (such as floods, fires, heavy snow, etc.), as well as hunting animals while they are crossing water or overcoming other obstacles, including during attempts to escape from natural disasters.
Recreational and sport fishing with a cast net is permitted throughout the year. The use of a cast net with a diameter exceeding 4.5 meters or a mesh size smaller than 20 mm is prohibited.
