The Department of Environmental Supervision Held an Informational Meeting with Youth Camp Participants
An information meeting was held between participants of a thematic youth camp organized by the LEPL Youth Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and representatives of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
At the event, held in Gori, Tato Iremadze, Deputy Head of the Administration of the Department of Environmental Supervision, delivered a presentation to the young participants on the activities, specific features and areas of operation of the Department of Environmental Supervision as the state authority responsible for environmental control.
The meeting was conducted in an interactive format. The camp participants showed particular interest in the institutional structure of the Department of Environmental Supervision, its functions and responsibilities, as well as statistics on environmental violations identified over the years, including cases of illegal harvesting of species protected under the Red List. The meeting also highlighted the active role young people can play in preventing environmental violations.
“We had a very interesting meeting with a representative of the Department of Environmental Supervision. We had quite a few questions, and we received comprehensive answers to all of them. It was important to learn that environmental control in the country is very strong and that the number of environmental violations has been decreasing year by year. I believe that each of us can make a significant contribution to this effort,” said Anastasia Gumberidze, a participant of the thematic youth camp.
The purpose of holding similar meetings with young people is to raise environmental awareness among the younger generation and strengthen their sense of environmental responsibility.
