The Department of Environmental Supervision Identified Illegal Sawmills in Kvemo Kartli
Officers of the Kvemo Kartli Regional Division of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified violations in the villages of Chivtkilsi and Sabechisi, Tsalka Municipality.
The citizens had installed unregistered circular sawmill equipment in their residential yards.
As both cases contain signs of criminal offences, the case materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.
Combating illegal forest use is a top priority for the Department. The patrol crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision conduct continuous 24-hour monitoring nationwide to ensure the timely prevention, detection, and suppression of environmental violations. Immediate action is taken in response to every report received through the Ministry’s hotline (153).
