It is noteworthy that 415 offenders were drivers/owners of passenger cars, 272 were drivers/owners of minibuses, and 8 were drivers/owners of freight vehicles.

In order to improve ambient air quality and minimize pollution from the transport sector, the Department’s inspectors carry out daily monitoring of emissions from motor vehicles operating on roads in four cities across the country. The crews are equipped with appropriate measuring instruments, and staff undergo periodic retraining. Department employees now have the capacity to inspect more vehicles at a greater number of locations. As a result, monitoring has become more extensive and effective - In the first five months of the current year, the Department’s employees identified 3,586 cases of vehicle emissions exceeding the established standards.
