The Department of Environmental Supervision identified 85 cases of illegal fishing in the first three months of 2026



Employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, within the framework of combating poaching, identified 85 cases of illegal fishing during the period from January 1 through March 31, 2026. Of these, 31 cases contain signs of criminal offenses. The case materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.

 The total amount of illegally caught fish exceeded 139 kg.

 In most cases, poachers used illegal fishing methods such as gill nets and electrofishing devices. Over the three-month period, 38 cases of illegal fishing using gill nets and 7 cases using electrofishing devices were identified.

 The timely prevention, detection, and suppression of illegal fishing is a top priority for the Department of Environmental Supervision.

 The patrol crews of the Department of Environmental Supervision conduct continuous 24-hour monitoring nationwide to ensure the timely prevention, detection, and suppression of illegal fishing, hunting, forestry use, and other environmental violations. In addition, immediate response is provided to every report received via the hotline (153).
