The Department of Environmental Supervision has identified four cases of illegal logging in Kakheti
Within the framework of combating the illegal use of forest resources, employees of the Kakheti Regional Division of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture identified violations in the municipalities of Telavi and Akhmeta.
In the vicinity of the villages of Saniore and Matani, as well as the town of Akhmeta, various tree species were illegally harvested, and part of the timber was unlawfully processed.
In total, 28 units of round timber (logs) and up to 1 cubic meter of firewood were seized.
The protection of natural resources is a top priority for the Environmental Supervision Department. Employees of the Department’s regional divisions, while exercising state environmental control, place particular emphasis on combating the illegal use of forest resources. Within the framework of anti-poaching efforts and strict enforcement, modern technologies are actively employed. As a result, in the first three months of 2026, a total of 136 cases of illegal use of forest resources were identified within the operational area of the Kakheti Regional Division alone.
