In 2025, the Department identified 2,713 violations of the Waste Management Code
The Department of Environmental Supervision identified up to 40 violations of the Waste Management Code in Tbilisi and other regions of the country.
In addition to the capital, violations were recorded in Adjara, Samegrelo, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti.
These included open burning of municipal non‑hazardous waste, as well as pollution caused by municipal non‑hazardous, hazardous, construction, inert, and animal waste.
Implementing effective state control over waste management is a priority for the Environmental Supervision Department. The Department’s patrol crews conduct 24-hour continuous monitoring nationwide to ensure timely prevention, detection, and response to environmental violations. Additionally, immediate action is taken in response to every report received through the Ministry’s hotline (153). As a result, in 2025, the Department identified 2,713 violations of the Waste Management Code.
